It is known as edge lighted or lit signs and is very modern looking and attractive. The look is very much like a fluorescent or neon sign only with this type of sign there is no limitation of fonts or letter styles as there is in neon. Anything can be rendered in an edge lighted sign and the only limitation is the imagination of the artist
How is an edge lighted acrylic sign madeThe first step in manufacturing an edge
lighted sign is to design the graphics in a CAD/CAM software program.
The graphics are converted to a toolpath program called G-code this
g-code is then programed into a CNC router which then routs the graphic
design into the clear acrylic sheet. Once the acrylic has been made
the next step is to make the LED base this is made as above with a CNC
router. If the base is made of wood then it is spray finished, if the
base is aluminum it is brushed or polished and then a clear finish is
applied. The base and the acrylic are joined together and the sign is
shipped to the customer.
