During the days of old any object sign or plaque that needed to be embellished with decoration or marked in some way was engraved by hand by a skilled engraver. While the results were quite spectacular the time and effort is also very expensive and time consuming. Today with advancements in computers software and computer driven machines the situation has changed quite dramatically. With Computer Numerical Control (CNC) and Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Machining(CAM) we can now cnc engrave with speed and accuracy only dreamed of in earlier days. What this has done is to make the cost of engraved signs plaques and engraved objects less expensive to be obtained by the consumer. There are four methods of marking or engraving that is practiced today, They are rotary engraving laser engraving and diamond drag engraving. All four forms of engraving are performed by cnc machines just in different ways. There are four major manufacturers of this type of cnc machinery they are New Hermes Newing Hall, Pnnacle and Roland companys. the software used in engraving is New Hermes GRAVOSTYLE Artcam INSIGNIA Cadlink ENGRAVELAB and Scanvec Amiable ENROUTE. Here at Signsalive.net we use a modified 4 axis Newing Hall engraver for most of our engraving work. We can diamond drag engrave trophy plaques and rotary engrave brass plastic and wood items.
