Answer: HDU is an acronym for High Density Urethane foam. It is a rigid easily machined substance of isocynanidic formulation. It was originally made as a rigid form of insulation for refrigeration units and as flotation for
boat hulls and also as a core and stiffener in fiberglass and composite fabrication. It has since found a great application as a medium for sign fabrication. HDU is easily machined is strong and has a great resistance to weathering. Unlike wood which has a tendency to rot , check swell and have grain which is difficult to machine. HDU is very easy to shape and will take almost any finish it can be finished in automotive and aircraft paints for superior finish durability.
